Summary
David
has a demonstrated ability to interact and communicate
effectively with all levels of an organization. He has over
seventeen years of hands-on project management experience.
He also provides a strategic view through ten years of
senior management experience. He has led, consulted or
trained on product development, software delivery, network
infrastructure and process engineering projects at several
vibrant organizations. Those organizations include
Ameritrade, ConAgra, Boeing, ES&S, FiServ-ITI, Gallup,
Microsoft Press (iUniverse.com), Motorola, NEAPCO, Omaha
Police Department, State of Nebraska, St. Louis University,
Southeast Community College and Southern Illinois University
at Edwardsville.
He is a frequent keynote speaker, trainer and seminar leader
at regional and national conferences on a range of topics
from conflict resolution to leadership development. He has
equipped over 10,600 professionals in class room and seminar
settings since 1996. He also has developed curriculum for
software applications, risk management, conflict resolution,
career development, communication and project management. He
also has written and published best practice articles on
project management and software development in IBM’s
Rational Edge, ALLPM, ESI-INTL Horizons, PMI ISSIG and

He holds a Master's of Arts in Management, MIS (1994), a Master's in Community and Regional Planning (1990) and a Bachelor's of Science (1988) from the University of Nebraska. He has
Microsoft Certified Programmer (MCP, 2004) Microsoft Solutions Framework Practitioner (MSFP, 2003) and MS Project 2000 (MOS, 2002) certifications from Microsoft and a Project Management Professional (PMP, 2000) certification from the Project Management Institute. He also served as the President for the PMI Mid-Nebraska Chapter (2002-04).
David is a member of PMI, American Society of Training and
Development (ASTD) and Information Systems Audit and Control
Association (ISACA).
Additional Employment History
As a Professor for Bellevue University since
May 2002, David has created project management curriculum
and delivered it to corporations and individuals in
classroom and online settings. He has selected and developed
adjunct faculty. He also teaches an accelerated Bachelor’s
of Science in Management program and courses within the
Bachelor’s of Strengths Based Management in Lincoln, Omaha
and online.
As a Senior Project Manager with FiServ ITI, David
implemented a project management office and enterprise-wide
project management system from 2001 to 2002. He created a
portfolio management tool to track over 126 projects across
thirty-four product areas. He created resource-tracking
systems to monitor over 180,000 person hours for a large
development staff. Additionally, he led the company's
efforts to reshape its electronic commerce tool sets.
As a Web Program Manager with iUniverse in 2001, David led
an effort to deliver an on-line custom book web- site for
Microsoft Press in only sixteen weeks. In addition to this
project, he mentored thirty-six people in project management
techniques and supported their development as project
managers. He also created and implemented quality assurance
processes for project management, defect tracking and
software enhancements.
As a Director of Software Development with the Gallup
Organization, David created a software development team from
1999 to 2000. He crafted the strategy, mission, and tactical
plans for three departments. He recruited, hired and
retained over sixty-eight professionals. David implemented
software development methodologies leveraging Microsoft's
Solution Framework as well as the Capability Maturity Model.
He maintained aggressive gross margin standards and improved
top-line opportunities.
As the MIS Director with the City of Omaha, David created a
technology division that enabled quick decision making for
the Police and Fire Departments from 1995 to 1998. He hired
and retained skilled professionals. He managed forty-six
professionals. David managed vendor delivery and performance
and served as a systems architect for the county's criminal
justice projects. He also led the physical remodeling of a
record center involving eighty personnel, without work
interruption.
Through three progressively more responsible roles with
State of Nebraska from 1989 to 1995, David developed and
managed health and human services solutions in the
environmental health, mental health and substance abuse
areas as well as led the State Criminal History improvement
efforts for the State Patrol. He brought in two critical
systems in his role as the Criminal Identification Manager
from 1993 to 1995: managing the implementation of the
state’s first Automated Finger Print Identification System
in 1995 and modernizing the Patrol Criminal History System
in 1994.
As an instructor with MicroAge, David developed and
delivered database and spreadsheet application software
training from 1993 to 1995.
